My family loved these baked apples. We also prefer them on the soft side, so I baked them for thirty+ minutes. I cut down on the butter and sugar and still found them delicious. What a nice, simple, wholesome dessert!

I do these High german style, chosen "Bratapfel": stuff the apples with walnuts (or other basics), candied ginger, honey, a bit of lemon juice, orange peel, cinnamon and a tiny fleck of rum (if y'all like). Then broil them for thirty to xl minutes.
ten/14/2002
Calibration downwards the butter to a teaspoon, and cook for atleast another ten minutes.
10/14/2002
I but gave this recipe a three because afterwards 15-20 minutes, the apples were notwithstanding barely soft and I similar mine kind of mushy which REALLY detracted from the potential of a baked apple tree. Likewise, after reading other people's suggestions to this recipe I used some of their hints; I microwaved the brownish sugar & butter then put information technology in the apple centers & added water at the lesser of the pan which made a weird & very watery (not syrupy) concoction & raisins. I'll definately try the recipe again merely won't microwave the b. carbohydrate & butter first & I'd bake it a lot longer. Will allow you know how it turns out. :-) Oh oh oh, also, I added 10+ raisins that had been soaked in the middle of the apple as well and those were yummy.
06/10/2002
My family really enjoyed these apples. I aded some chopped pecans before baking for a little extra crisis. Next time I will cutting down on the butter and add a little more than cinnamon. Delicious!
09/xx/2002
Succulent!!. But adjacent time,I'll cutting the butter in half,to brand it healthier.
x/07/2002
Very good. I added chopped pecans equally someone else suggested, and used a white sugar-cinnamon mix. As well found I needed to add some h2o to the pan.
ten/19/2003
This is a really skilful broiled apple tree recipe. It definitely takes more than 15 minutes to bake these. (takes at least 30 minutes) Covering foil helps melt faster. Iv'e made this many times with nifty results. The final time I made them, I sliced the apples and tossed with brownish sugar, cinnamon and i tablespoon of flour. Place in a baking dish, comprehend with foil and bake for approx. 30 to 45 minutes. It's like apple pie without the crust. Delicious!!
11/20/2005
Me and my daughter loved these apples!!! Actually, she wanted to put ten stars only nosotros couldn't. We didn't utilise greenish apples merely red ones, and we didn't utilise so much sugar, butter or cinnamon. We cooked them for 40 minutes and they came out perfectly yummy! Thank you for the recipe!!
02/05/2010
I only had i apple so I sliced it, put it in a glass bowl, added 2 tblsp brown sugar, 1 tblsp butter and a dash of cinnamon. Then popped information technology in the microwave for 3 minutes, stirring halfway through. Information technology turned out swell!!

Wonderful, with some changes...I peeled the top half of the apple, stuffed the apples with butter and a few raisins. Then I sprinkled each apple generously with cinnamon, chocolate-brown sugar and chopped walnuts. And for the bottom of the dish I put two T water, one T pure vanilla extract, and 2 T Nighttime Rum. Not only were they delicous, but the house smelled heavenly.
ten/22/2005
So, then skillful, and and so piece of cake. Information technology made me wonder why it's been many years since I've made broiled apples. I didn't change a affair except to melt the Granny Smith apples for about 25 minutes until they were soft enough. I used a melon baller to cadre the apples and that fabricated it very like shooting fish in a barrel.
09/23/2008
This is a great recipe! I use Granny Smith apples (peeled & sliced) and subsequently filling core I wrap apple with Filo dough before baking! Really tasty!
05/21/2003
I loved these, only I did not mix the suger and butter I packed the suger into each apple then put a pat of butter on top and packed it in also, then put the cinnamon on and broiled them for 30 mins.information technology'due south best to take the peelings off the apple tree first.
11/24/2006
A yummy and easy recipe. The baking fourth dimension is not long enough. The apples were difficult and needed to bake another 15 minutes.
x/11/2010
I used this recipe for only one apple. I didn't desire to heat the oven for just one so I microwaved it for 5 minutes. Information technology was delicious. I did add water to the lesser of the bowl so information technology wouldn't dry out besides much.
04/07/2006
My grandma used to make these when I was a kid, and she used cooking apples. I haven't seen cooking apples here, so I used Granny Smiths. I fabricated them according to the recipe, and while they tasted good, I prefered my grandma's method of training which was to just slice up the apples, put them in a blistering dish, and top with the butter and sugar. We would have them with warm custard. Delicious!
eleven/12/2006
Others are right--THE COOKING TIME MUST Exist LONGER. The "BC" cookbook, with a similar recipe, suggests 45 minutes at 375 degrees. I followed the instructions of this recipe and the apples were virtually equally firm as when the went in the oven. The butter-brown carbohydrate-cinnamon mix was good, though.
12/11/2011
I actually cored and chopped the apples into bite size pieces and added the ingredients over the peak of the apples. Too, I used Red Delicious because nosotros practice not prefer bitter apples.
05/04/2007
I brand these by cut the apples in half, creating a well where the core was, and using splenda plus cinnamon and butter, definitely need to exist baked at 350 for xxx minutes though. This is a really proficient low cal dessert!
01/29/2007
Bang-up Recipe! I added a little nutmeg and walnuts, put apple tree juice in the bottom of the pan, and used braeburn apples. Yum! Served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and some carmel topping. ;)
09/24/2009
Loved it! I used 2 gala apples and 2 gilded delicious. They were both very good. I found it easier to melt the butter, mix it with the brown sugar and then stuff into the apples. I did add a modest amount of water to the bottom of the pan as others suggested. Not sure if it helped or not. I would also recommend blistering for 25-30 minutes. I served as a side dish to roasted chicken. It was great!
01/27/2011
A Slap-up Broiled Apples Recipe when honey is used instead of chocolate-brown sugar, stuffed and topped with plump raisins, a dusting of cinnamon on top and spiced nutmeg for garnish, sprinkled with sugar. Fresh Baked Apples Make A Great Dessert!
03/09/2003
My grandmother use to brand these and I have searched for how to practice it. This is correct on! I microwaved them for v-8 min like she did and added cinn & saccharide mix likewise she e'er used rasins merely I am not a fan of them and so I left them out.
01/eighteen/2003
I am not crazy well-nigh apples simply this is a great recipe for broiled apples. For Thanksgiving I made them. Only I sliced the apples in 8 slices each and poured the the mixture over them. They were great!
03/08/2012
I'm currently eating one of these, and information technology's delicious! I did end up baking it longer, however. At 15 minutes, they were nevertheless pretty crunchy. So I put them back in the oven, and and so turned the oven off and went to give the kids a bathroom and put them to bed. By the fourth dimension I got back, the apples were still squeamish and hot, and perfectly cooked. Also, I didn't end upward measuring anything - I but packed the brownish sugar down into the apples and put the butter on top. Adjacent time I'll mix the butter and brown carbohydrate together commencement. The directions were kind of vague regarding that function (I wasn't certain if it was supposed to be mixed or layered). I didn't read any reviews prior to making this recipe, so I didn't add any water in the pan, and they turned out fine. I'm not sure what good it would practice to add h2o. I'll definitely make these again. I might take to invest in an apple corer or melon baller - I ended upward using my 1/2 tsp measuring spoon to scrape out the cores which took a while.
04/19/2012
Me, my fiance, and our girl (2yrs) adored these apples. We followed the recipe exactly but adjacent time I definitely know that pecans or something nutty would be a wonderful addition. We served ours with vanilla ice cream and it was similar to apple tree pie a la mode just without the crust.
11/18/2007
I always bake these with no butter. Simply carbohydrate, cinnamon, and allspice in the well. I cover the apple tree in tin foil. You lot're left with the juices from the apple brewing in the core with crispy bits of cinnamon sugar in the flesh of the apple. The all-time way to consume an apple tree in my opinion :) The worst part, is that you have to look for these to cool before you can dig in. Just always worth it!
03/22/2008
This recipe worked out very well, and was succulent. Instead of leaving the apples whole, I sliced them, tossed them with other ingredients. That style it only took the fifteen min cooking time. Thanks for the recipe!
06/06/2010
Simple and tasty! My son loved them. We like our apples softer and so the baking fourth dimension was off for united states of america. I baked the apples at 350 for 40 minutes.
05/19/2009
I, likewise, found that my apples were not tender after merely fifteen minutes. I had to double the cooking fourth dimension.
09/twenty/2013
I lighted upwards on the butter to continue information technology healthy. .... Served with on superlative of baked pork chops sprinkled with a flake bounding main salt and ground pepper and a green veggie. Simple yet Yummy!
09/17/2007
I love baked apples but this recipe just didn't piece of work for us. We followed the recipe exactly equally written but the filling ended upward just a watery mess.
10/07/2009
Great recipe! I loved making these apples, so uncomplicated and succulent. Filled the whole house with the scent of homemade apple pie. Next time I will add walnuts and raisins...yum! Didn't need to add water btw, merely baked in a pyrex dish for about 40 mins. and information technology was fine.
01/27/2009
These are very simple to make and gustatory modality really good. An splendid add-on would be to add chopped nuts.
11/10/2006
This was really delicious. I made cinnamon carbohydrate to fill the apple. Also I used an apple called a "Grapel" which is supposed to be the texture of an apple but gustatory modality like a grape. It was really merely a sweeter apple. When I baked this I sprinkled the bottom of the glass dish with cinnamon sugar, added h2o to cover the bottom and and then put a couple pats of butter beneath the apples in add-on to the butter in the apple. Information technology came out slap-up. Adjacent time I think that I volition use some crushed walnuts, almonds, or pecans also. Thanks so much for the recipe. Easy to make, wonderfully fragrant and exquisitely delicious.
04/xix/2011
Absolutely amazing! Tasted but like my Grandma'due south homemade apple tree pie filling. I greased the pan with butter and put a couple pads of butter on tiptop. I served it with fried pork chops and cranberry, pecan stuffing. My very picky kids loved it all
x/23/2010
This was great! Very piece of cake, smells and tastes delicious. Needed to cook for thirty minutes, non fifteen. Prep fourth dimension was but five minutes, not 15. Super piece of cake dessert served with ice cream.
10/21/2011
I am giving these apples a 5 star rating because I love how simple it is to make them. There is no need to do fancy things to this recipe, information technology is amazing only the way it is. I did bake them a little longer because I like them a chip mushy and I only used less butter and sugar with a sweeter fuji apple because I am trying to diet, but if I wasn't I would totally make them this way! They are and then skillful I think I am going to make them all winter!
11/xvi/2008
Family unit loved this! My Changes: I skined and sliced the apples. I mixed apple juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract and covered the bottom of the pan with information technology. I made 'Crumb Topping for Pies' recipe from this site and put information technology on top of the apples to give it texture. Broiled information technology for 20 minutes and it was done. I think the slicing of the apples made a difference in the bake. This taste just like apple crisp with the topping on information technology. I will exist making this again.
12/02/2002
I broiled a bit longer than the 15 minutes even so the apple was just baked half way. I used greenish Granny Smith apples as suggested - these were just to tart at the bottom. I made these in Camp Fire Girls with brownish sugar, peanut butter, raisins & butter - I'll stick to my recipe.
12/10/2006
Very good. Likewise good if you skin and slice apples. Very skilful flavor.
eleven/27/2011
15minutes is definitely non long plenty. Information technology came out good but non amazing.
x/08/2007
My swain loves apples in any course, and he really enjoyed this recipe. I used two very large Fuji apples for this recipe (which cored easily), and poked holes all through the apple with a abrupt knife before filling them with the butter and sugar mixture. I sprinkled a scrap of cinnamon on top. I had to adjust the baking time to 45 minutes due to the size of the apples, but they turned out wonderfully as-is. Next time I might utilize a little less butter, and hopefully I'll take some vanilla water ice cream on mitt :)
05/03/2005
So simple and warming. A dandy family unit dessert.
xi/27/2011
These were crawly! I added a small amount of nutmeg and they tasted just similar the broiled apples at Cracker Butt. They are great alone and devine with vanilla ice foam.
09/nineteen/2010
I baked my apples for 30 minutes, and they were still hard. Even though the skins were falling off and apple tree was spewing out the height of the apple tree. Tasted merely mediocre. I would not make this again. My husband was non disappointed to hear that, and he always enjoys everything I brand.
05/25/2011
Piece of cake, and delicious. A perfect side dish for grilled pork chops. Only matter I might do differently is not use greenish apples, I am not a fan of how tart they are.
07/25/2011
Tasty stuff. Did follow the proffer of putting apple juice in the bottom of the pan. And added walnuts on top. Will make over again.
02/26/2008
Very yummy flavor. I halve the apples to make it easier. Like shooting fish in a barrel and tasty.
08/xvi/2005
These were very good, simply I think if I endeavor them once again I'll add more things to it like maybe some caramel or some oats and I'd melt it a little longer. 15mins didn't soften them upward as much as I would have liked.
04/07/2006
So quick and piece of cake! The apples need to be baked much longer: at least 45 minutes.
eleven/13/2011
ok, very quick. take had ameliorate
02/09/2006
The flavor was great, but they definitely needed to melt longer. I'd say at least an hour or more. I like my apples to where they cut with a fork/spoon. I needed a knife for these. I'll make them again, and permit them bake for nearly 85mins.
06/29/2008
This recipe brought back memories of baked apples simmering on my grandmother's stove. That scent was so comforting and sent such a wonderful scent throughout the kitchen. Non just were they skilful back then but this recipe proved just as tasty. I retrieve the slow cooking on the stove was the central to the scent filling the kitchen, which the short fourth dimension cook in the microwave couldn't duplicate. Nevertheless, the sense of taste was great and brought back many memories. It was like shooting fish in a barrel and quick. I did add the chopped walnuts and idea that was a great suggestion and cooked one Fuji apple tree in a covered container for 4 minutes and it turned out perfect.
08/21/2007
I had to cook them 30 minutes (non fifteen), and similar someone previously stated: the dish doesn't look pretty when done, just the flavor was REALLY good. I had added water to the bottom of the dish, and that helped "soften" the skins. I think I volition make these once again, but next time I'll actually cut the apples in half, then brand a well in the center to fill with the sugar/butter mix...
12/18/2006
Actually adept... don't forget to add a little h2o in the bottom of the baking dish. These are a little hard to eat, though, and somewhat messy.
06/16/2003
Skillful. No big deal. Nuke them instead.
03/thirteen/2006
These are easy to make and gustation okay simply the cooking fourth dimension is manner off!
01/26/2007
My Mom used to make these for me when I was growing up:) I just love them:) Thanks for sharing your recipe:)
10/01/2008
I had to alter my recipe, instead of brown carbohydrate I used Sugar in the Raw and pumpkin pie spice and added some cinnamon (since it's cheaper) but I didn't have Nutmeg which is why I used the other spice. The water in the bottom of the pan was a bully idea since I drizzled that liquid on top of the apples later they were done. Very good!
03/22/2005
I make these one at a time when I get an apple tree dessert craving. Very good and satisfying!
12/05/2008
This is a adept basic recipe for baked apples. I did a few things differently that worked out well. 1. I mixed melted soy butter with the brownish sugar and 1/four tsp. vanilla flavoring in a bowl before putting into apples. (I concluded upward using half of what the recipe chosen for---MUCH healthier) two. I added a tsp. of apples and cinnamon oatmeal into the apple cut out before putting in the butter/carbohydrate mixture. The oatmeal added some umph to the baked apple. 3. I sprayed down a cupcake tin with non-stick spray and baked the apples in there so I didn't have to worry most them falling over. 4. Swallow. MMMMMMMMMM Thanks for the basic recipe, it inspired me!
07/07/2012
This recipe called for tart green apples. the oncs I use the skin was so tough that the apples did not bake good next fourth dimension I will us Mac apples
10/14/2006
I used this recipe as a spingboard. I substituted oil for the butter, and cutting the quantity in half, and I added dark raisins and ground walnuts to the filling. Then, I broiled it for xl minutes. With the changes, it make a simple, tasty dessert.
09/21/2006
This was easy and tasted practiced. I did have some trouble serving information technology to my 2 young children (perchance I didn't hollow out the apples enough??). Similar some of the others said, I would rather just cutting up the apples earlier blistering--not as pretty, simply easier to consume!
09/12/2011
Simple and delicious!
11/06/2006
This recipe is and then simple and succulent! Information technology makes your whole kitchen smell great likewise
10/30/2009
I thought the bake time was perfect, but they were on the business firm side (merely like I like them). I also tried these with granola and they were succulent. They could take used a little more moisture like water or apple juice.
04/02/2003
Yummy!!! Sinple to make. Definately needs to bake longer. I baked for 30 min and they were a little firm. endeavor adding a trivial nutmed with the cinamon. I served with a small spoonful of sour foam. Mmmmm Mmmmm Good!!
11/08/2005
Very good-used almost half as much butter, baked for thirty mins (med. size apple). Will mix cinnamon with sugar next fourth dimension.
08/06/2004
I like this recipe alot, only did change a few things. I softened the butter, stirred it up w/ brown sugar and sultanas (raisins). Then cored the apples all the fashion through and stuffed them w/ the mixture. Wrapped each ane up seperately w/ aluminum foil to continue it from running. Did have to cook it a bit longer (about 25 mins full), but w/ them wrapped in foil, they were much softer than normal - which is how I like them :) My hubby *loves* it due west/ vanilla ice foam and its a fun dish for my daughter to help with.
01/21/2012
Filling didn't stay in the apple tree and information technology felt similar something was missing. Side by side time I'll make a caramel sauce to acme information technology with or use some oats in the filling.
12/19/2000
I had never had baked apples before, these were succulent!! I used Granny Smith apples. I had to use unsalted butter (beau did the grocery shopping and information technology was thursday cheapest!). The trivial kid didn't have them, he's kind of picky, but the "big kid" (my boyfriend) tried some and loved it (another picky eater).
10/24/2001
This is then easy and quick! My oven did melt the apples very fast and so xv to 20 minutes would exercise it for my apples. I would apply this recipe with whatever type of apple tree, not just granny. This is really not bad with icecream.
10/19/2005
These apples were smashing! Slightly tart but wonderful! I cooked until the skin cracked open, nearly 30-40 minutes! They were devine!
03/19/2001
This was corking, but definitely needs longer in the oven than 15 minutes.
12/27/2014
Used Honey Crisp apples, lots of cinnamon, raisins, and broiled for 45 minutes; covered for the last 15. I also added a piddling water to the pan and gave the apples a lite basting halfway through.
10/03/2001
took longer than 15min to broil. It was really good though!
10/22/2001
Never had a baked apple tree before but this was definalty delicious. I put the butter and brown sugar in the microwave for a few seconds before putting it into the apples, it was easier.
02/08/2006
This was an easy and delicious recipe! I might propose cooking it longer considering I like my baked apples merely a niggling softer, simply despite that it was fantastic.
04/12/2004
Served this for Easter dinner. Anybody loved it. I added a nuance of footing cloves likewise.
12/11/2006
I wasn't very pleased with the way the apples came out at all. The pare was tough & the apples weren't very sugariness.
10/07/2013
Made these this evening & everyone loved them. The just affair I changed was reducing the corporeality of butter to closer to a tsp per apple. I mixed the brown carbohydrate & butter before filling the apples, added a small corporeality of h2o to the bottom of the pan & baked approximately 25 minutes (6 apples). Absolutely delicious!
01/16/2007
Elementary, delicious. Add a piddling Ceylon Cinnamon and it'due south perfect. Use a melon-brawl scoop and it'south equally piece of cake as 1-ii-3.
09/16/2003
YUM! This was so good!!! I had some for breakfast this morn :) I would recomend this to anyone!!!! :)
01/01/2006
This was great. We made a few changes. We sliced the apples in one-half and then cored them with a melon baller. Nosotros buttered the pan, but we're not sure if we needed to. We used cherry-red Braeburn apples, and we cooked it for 40 minutes. It was really good that way.
11/04/2009
Non really feeling this recipe as well much. For i definitely has the incorrect cooking times and for two information technology was kind of boring I fifty-fifty added cloves and nutmeg and notwithstanding it needed more.
03/09/2005
actually expert, and piece of cake. double batches last longer ;)
11/fifteen/2006
just okay - the butter separated out and made it taste sortof greasy, and 15 minutes was not well-nigh plenty blistering time... i added some fresh nutmeg for more of an 'apple pie' flavour.
11/07/2001
Really Proficient baked apple recipe. My hubby loved them! Volition definitely brand once again!
09/21/2007
Then Yummy.... This will make a corking replacement for apple tree pie. However, a full apple tree was a piddling to much for me and then I cut it in one-half and shared it with a friend.
10/03/2008
Love baked apples - these need to cook a little longer. My favourite filling is mincemeat (even if it isn't Xmas). No extra sugar or butter added.
04/04/2012
Corking over vanilla bean water ice cream
12/17/2012
This recipe is very similar to how my female parent used to make it! I used Granny Smith apples and the ingredients as written. I did yet add an extra 10 minutes to the cooking time because I similar a softer apple. A slap-up treat is pouring cream in the bottom of the basin when serving. I read other reviews well-nigh coring all the fashion through and I must disagree as this steams from the outside instead of cooking from the inside and provides a different texture than I was looking for at least. I will definitely make this again!
08/24/2005
These baked apples were fantastic. They're very piece of cake to make and succulent! Thanks for the sharing the recipe.
